Wai Hin,

- born in 1939, began painting in
1957. He studied Western and Chinese painting under Ng Po Wan, Kwok Yan
Leuna, and Leung Part Yu at the
Hong Kong
Fine
Arts
Academy
. After graduating the Academy, he taught watercolor painting at the
Department of Extramural Studies at the
Chinese
University
of
Hong Kong
.
Law Wai Hin has had a
numerous one-man and group exhibitions in the
United Kingdom
,
Monte Carlo
, the
Philippines
,
Korea
,
Malaysia
,
Japan
,
Taiwan
,
Macau
,
Thailand
,
Indonesia
,
Hong Kong
and most recently in
Canada
and
United States
.
Since immigrating to
Canada
in 1990, Law Wai Hin has earned the much coveted signature status from
both the Federation of Canadian Artists and The Northwest Watercolor
Society. He has been honored with numerous awards, and most recently has
received the first prize from the Annual Water Media on Paper Exhibition,
the second prize from the "Annual Winter" Juried Exhibition -
All Media, and the Bronze Medal from the annual "FCA/AFCA"
Juried Exhibition.
Law Wai Hin’s work
explores and depicts a subtle East - West balance that is apparent in his
delicate, yet confident brushwork and in his beautifully transparent yet
intense color. His work appeals to discerning collectors and art lovers
worldwide and can be found in many private and public collections
including The Hong Kong Art Museum, The National Art Gallery of Malaysia,
The Ayala Museum in the
Philippines
, and the
University
of
Hong Kong
.
In February 2003, Law Wai
Hin received the MILLARD SHEETS MEMORIAL AWARD from the American
Watercolor Society, New York, NY for the painting "School
Orchestra".
In October 2003, the
artist received the Fasken, Martineau, Dumoulin Award by the Federation of
Canadian Artists, Vancouver, Canada for the painting
"Tree".
In January 2004, Law Wai
Hin was elected to active American
Watercolor Society membership.
In 2004, Law Wai Hin
received the Elsie and David Wu Ject-Key award for the painting "Old
Montreal".
Law Wai Hin is a
Signature Member of the Federation
of Canadian Artists.
