The Artist
PIERRE SURTES - born in
1944, in Northern Moravia, part of the former Czechoslovakia, obtained
his education through the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague and later in
Bratislava.
In 1980, for personal
reasons the Artist decided to move to Canada. His residence for many
years was in Montreal, where he developed a strong affinity for a
cultural life in French Canada. After leaving the Province of Quebec,
Pierre put into practice his longstanding interest in graphic design,
which launched his commercial career in this field. However, in recent
years, the Artist returned exclusively to creating and exhibiting Fine
Art.
As a result of many
years of study and a solid background of European experience, the Artist
delivers an evidence of technical accuracy, flawless composition and
creative integrity.
Parks and Gardens
created by Pierre Surtes can be classified as the paintings in four
dimensions.
Through his art we are
offered the chance to glimpse a more idyllic, romantic universe – they
are the outcome of quest for a vision of paradise regained. Imbued with
an almost otherworldly atmosphere, each of his paintings reflects the
aspirations and driving forces that create it.
The Artist’s
application of light has the power to characterize and accent his
exteriors; it can convey an aura of intimacy, provide a touch of
sophistication and provocatively enhance all details with special
effects.
Parks and Gardens of
Surtes are symbols of eternity. Whether their appeal is cerebral or
sensual, each is suffused with a feeling of enchantment – to enter
them is to enter a dream world.
